Growing up in the Netherlands and raised by a beautiful queen, Josje, Kymara was taught the importance of talking about and expressing one's feelings. This upbringing is incredibly present in Kymara’s music, particularly heard in her honest lyricism. Music has always been a major part in her life, but in her mid-twenties she started to find her own unique voice through songwriting. It was there that she was able to draw from her own life experiences and put it into her music with themes of love, race and personal growth. Therefore, her music is a beautiful combination of Nina Simone's storytelling, D'Angelo's soulfulness and the purity and rawness of Janis Joplin.

Her debut single ‘You’ received a playlist placement on Spotify's editorial playlist Fresh Finds: The Wave and has 130,000 streams on Spotify, the follow-up track 'Unconscious Happiness' got national radio play on NPO Soul and Jazz in the Netherlands. ‘Home’, a single released with MC Bobbie Johnson, received support from Jack Saunders Radio 1's Future Artists show and now has over 410,000 streams across platforms, was featured in Rolling Stone India as part of the Global Artists Spotlight Segment, as well as in Equate Magazine, Wordplay Magazine and BN1 Magazine respectively. Kymara's debut EP 'New Road' is out now.
